You can now do your bit for the underprivileged, as you enjoy a performance of Antar Yatra, a dance-drama that will give you a glimpse of the inner world of the women dancers of India. Choreographed and directed by Odissi performer Sharmila Biswas, the show is being organised by Aim for Seva, an NGO that makes education accessible to underprivileged children. The narrative will highlight the journey of conflicting thoughts and emotions of three women, using three different dance forms, namely Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. The performers will attempt to capture the life, the artistic vision and the inner domain of the women dancers of India, from past to present, through songs in six different languages. The show will make you travel between the real and the make-believe, through the art of puppetry and Pinnal Kollattam (a harvest dance from Tamil Nadu), nudging you to interpret the scenario yourself. Elaborating on her vision behind Antar Yatra, Biswas says, “I am seeking to bring out the inner domain, the ‘aatma.’ The performance will highlight the point of view of traditional women artistes through these three classical dance forms, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Bharatanatyam.”  The lead dancers are Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya (Bharatnatyam), Amrita Lahiri (Kuchipudi) and Shashwati Garai Ghosh (Odissi),  the music composition and vocal support will be provided by Srijan Chatterjee. All proceedings from the passes will go towards educating children.
