Thaalavattam, meaning a circle of rhythm, is a Bangalore-based percussion project started by drummer Montry Manuel. In an attempt to spread awareness about reusing and recycling waste and find creative solutions to managing it, the band’s members create music using innovative instruments made from plastic and metal waste such as reused paint cans, soda cans, PVC pipes, etc.
Thaalavattam will be joined by Daniel Waples, an independent musician from London. Waples has mastered the handpan, a kind of percussion instrument whose melodies are associated with energy, alternative healing.
