Dr Sangita Nerurkar pays tribute to the legendary artiste and queen of ghazals, Begum Akhtar who left behind a legacy of thumris, ghazals and dadra that continue to captivate a nation full of admirers, almost four decades after her death. She will showcase the life and works of Begum Akhtar while exploring the diverse nuances of her gayaki and will feature both popular and unexplored works. Dr Nerurkar has trained in Indian classical music under Pandit Gangadharbua Pimpalkhare and eminent Hindustani classical vocalist Pandit Vijay Koparkar. Her collaborations include performances with prominent artists such Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar and Arun Date.
