Sending you delicious wishes for a yummy, satisfying 2016. The flavour of the season? Brand new pure vegetarian restaurants... from 29 at Kemps Corner to Miami in Marine Lines, Panaya, Oye Kake and Firki in Lower Parel.  DECOR Playfulness and colour weave their way through the décor and menu. Pin-wheels, graffiti, old-school Indian toys and games; wooden doll collections (including the firki on the walls) signals the meal that is to follow. FOOD Chaat and snack orientated menu here. Sitting alongside many Gujarati dishes (also a dish or two from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, South India and Sindh) are innovative. Amongst these innovative ones, it’s the two kinds of absurd sounding pizzas which actually taste good. Especially the Handvo Pizza (with it’s Gujarati handvo base) and the Pao Bhaaji Pizza (with pao bhaji topping). It’s the contrasting textures and the kadhi of the Kathiawadi Khow suey that we liked. Tiny gems of baked vada stuffed with batata delight. Amongst the regular dishes, it’s the Fada Ni Khichdi, Bajra Chilla and the ethereally light Pista Kulfi that come up tops. MINUS POINTS Some dishes miss the mark completely, the Panki is too thick. Dal Pakwan is a strange concoction of tamrind chutney. Lacklustre PaobhajiFondue. Average chaat (be it sev puri or Taco Bhelpuri), yucky mud pie. Plenty of dishes, like the #39;Flavour of day#39;, Corn Handwo not available Too noisy. MY POINT Open through the day the pure vegetarian Firki has several dishes that delight, many disappoint as does the fact that it is more expensive than Swati and Soam. The good news is that it is snack-y and easy and  vegetarian fun dining has come of age.
