Events In A Cloud Chamber is a film made by modernist painter Akbar Padamsee, which featured a single colour image that had been created using projected light instead of applied pigment. This exhibition – of the same name – is a collaboration between flimmaker Ashim Ahluwalia and Padamsee, in which Ahluwalia attempts to recapture some of the avant-garde spirit of the late 1960s moment by screening his own film in a reconstructed environment that approximates Padamsee’s apartment and the atmosphere of the Vision Exchange Workshop, in whose context the original film was made. The new film has been made on 16 mm, and comprises a collage of images, clips of interviews with the artist and other archival footage.
