Havana Cafe Bar

Are you excited by food? By travel? Does the very name ‘Havana Café’ propel you to come rushing to it in Colaba, in the hope of being transported to Cuba? It had that effect on us, we rushed here but alas! The food was anything but Cuban. But boy! Was I transported? Not to Cuba but to the most undiscovered gems in India. Decor Go through the very white corridor of Gordon House hotel, up the lift into the very warm hued Havana. A small fountain, chandelier, black and white checkered flooring, Che Guevara’s mural give the Cuban touch. Food + Drink Rum fans will be happy when they came here, along with a long list of rums, there are plenty of rum based cocktails, Cuba Libre and Mojito to the innovative ones.  Okayish regular lunch buffet (Rs 499 daily) with passable salads (Watermelon Ginger Salad and Sweet Potato Salad). Fritters, sandwiches and desserts. In the a la carte the Cubano Mushroom Sandwich was tasty though not authentic. Tasty, deep-fried Cheesy Poppers and Cottage Cheese Sliders. Minus Points Overcooked, gloopy, soggy be it nachos, sliders or the non veg sandwiches. No point listing the rest of the disappointing dishes. Even the churros were soggy. Service was slow and mixed up. My Point Quite clearly Havana café and bar (which replaces Polly Esther) is meant to be more of a bar (well stocked) and less of a café. Reasonably priced buffet (Rs 499) but disappointing food. But we are all certainly not going back to Havana in Colaba. Critic reviews are anonymous and all bills are paid by them.
