Literature mirrors society and great writers are seers of life. Jashn-e-Qalam is an initiative to celebrate Literature and great Litterateurs in the form of dramatic readings and storytelling performances. From folklore and mythology to grandma’s tales, oral storytelling in any form have been agents of personal and societal transformation across time and culture. Jashn-e-Qalam is a tribute to this very tradition. Spread over 2 days, the event includes numerous programs for people to listen, discuss and share.
Day 1
Dramatic Readings: Panchatantra
Time: 6pm- 7:30pm
Panchatantra, the Sanskrit composition attributed to #39;Vishnu Sharma#39;, is written in the form of simple animal fables and each story has a moral and philosophical theme which has stood the test of time in modern age of atomic fear and madness. With artists like Ayesha Singh, Rakesh Om, Vicky Ahuja, Shashwita Sharma and Amit Tonger on board for this event, swing by and have a timeless experience.

Dramatic Readings: Sa’adat Hasan MANTO
Time: 8pm-9:30pm
One of the best short-story tellers of the 20th century, Sa’adat Hasan Manto was also one the most controversial ones. He displaced idols of religion, love and patriotism through his stark writing and was labeled as a fanatic. The event will feature dramatic readings of his short stories "Dhuan", "Boo" "Mozelle" with artists Madhurjeet Sarghi, Rakesh Om, Vicky Ahija and KC Shankar.

Solo Performances: Ek Baar Ki Baat Hai- Manto, Nirmal Verma and Bhisham Sahni
Time: 8pm-9:30pm
The event will feature solo performances of short stories ‘Mammad Bhai’, ‘Leela Nandlaal Ki’, and ‘Dhoop Ka Ek Tukda’ enacted by Rakesh Chaturvedi Om, Ajit Mehla and Sunita Rajwar. The short stories belong to iconic writers Sa’adat Hasan Manto, Bhisham Sahni and Nirmal Verma.
